As you may already, WordPress is an open source CMS (content management system) database that is flexible for building blogs. With the availability of free and premium themes as well as plugins to enhance WordPress blogs’ usability, you will be able to build websites that are dynamic. So, this WordPress beginners tutorial article is aimed at teaching you how to build websites with WordPress so as to maximize your online blogging experience, have fun and ultimately make money online.
The first step for a newbie to take is to register a domain name and create a web hosting account. This is to enable you to host a WordPress blog on your domain name cum your website hosting server. If you are searching for a reliable web host with 99.9% up time and lots of superb technical customer support, you just have to use Hostgator by clicking here.
As soon as your domain name DNS (domain name server) resolves to your hosting server, it is time to start installing WordPress. Please note that not all web hosts support WordPress database software. Hostgator supports it because it is on cpanel hosting platform.
With that said, the next step is to log on to your web hosting cpanel using the domain name you have registered. The domain name path to type on your browser is http://www.onlinebusinessbuff.com/cpanel. Simply replace onlinebusinessbuff.com with your registered domain name and its extension. Enter your user name and password to be able to access the hosting features.
For the WordPress beginners tutorial, we are going to scroll down to “Software and Services” section on your server.
Click on the “Fantastico” icon. This is the feature that enables lots of software and databases to be installed with one click of the button. On the page, you will notice all the software that can be installed on your website using Fantastico. They are clickable links.
On my server, it is by the left hand side of the web page. I can spot “Wordpress” straight away. I will click on it in order to go to the WordPress installation page. While there, I will start filling out all the required information to complete the process of installing WordPress database on my domain name. It is really self explanatory; you should try it out! Therefore, you should not be scared when performing this installation exercise.
I will stop here for today’s WordPress beginners’ tutorial. I will continue from there in Part 2 of this series of articles. Meanwhile, you can quickly check out a comprehensive WordPress tutorial video course by clicking here
